Draft Audio Story

I have decided to create an advertisement for my audio Story. I struggled with exactly what to do as my project isn’t exactly created within the present day. I knew that I wanted to add several different components to my work that would set the ambiance of the location, which is California. I went back and forth on either the sound of leaves and different things relating to the mountains however I thought the waves of the beach were more noticeable to the location. The question of what to say in this audio however was a mix up as I knew what I wanted to portray however the wording I found difficult. I didn’t expect it to be as hard as it was to find a balance between meeting the time requirement, as well as saying what I wanted without it being too wordy. I knew to make a good advertisement that it couldn’t be too much of a narrative or interview, which is why I chose to break up the different audio recordings with the crashing of waves in the background. I tried not to say a whole descriptive narrative of the company rather than a few excerpts of light hearted examples or questions that are also correlated with the theme of my semester project. What I would like to work on in my final project is the clarity of my voice in the audio, I am aware that it can sound muffled at some points which I look forward to hearing the comments of my peers on how to possibly adjust that aspect of my work. Another aspect I would like to work more on is the level volumes, in the track of the waves the sound can go from very loud to very soft and I would like to work on adjusting to the pauses in my voice to have a louder sound bite of the waves and soften them when I am talking. I have used that feature in my draft however I am going to refine that tool in my final draft. Below is the link to the music I have downloaded off of freemusic.org.

  1. Hi Jenna,

First off, I really like how you’re going with an advertisement style audio story. The idea is brilliant because people always want to go and visit California because it’s common for tourists to come and visit. I’m from California so I can totally see this as an advertisement to get people to come and visit. The various sounds throughout your story are really good and help sell your audience to want to go relax or explore. I have two suggestions to help improve your story. The volume of each sound bite stands out especially when you have those soft sounds in between the speaking. I am also having this issue with mine so I think if you even the sound clips out it will sound better. Another suggestion that I have for you is to make your whole story flow better. All the elements and components that you have been great it just needs to flow better. It almost feels as if it’s not finished yet and all chunky between clips. So, I would just fix that, and you should be good to go. I really like the ideas that you have, and I can’t wait to see what the final product sounds like.

  2. Hey Jenna, your audio story was really fun to listen to! I liked how you put the ocean sounds in the background, it really helped with the overall feel you were hoping to achieve with your logo design as well! One thing I would suggest is making sure your audio clips are clear and that there is no background noise when you record them. It was a little distracting to hear the different pitches in background noise while listening…I sometimes wasn’t sure what was an ocean wave or what was fuzzy background interference. Another thing I would suggest tweaking would be the spaces between your speech. Try bringing it more together instead of spaced out so much. Other than that, the message you had to say was very persuasive! You did an amazing job targeting your audience of younger people and really conveyed the experience into a concise audio story…well done!
